We play our first regional game this Saturday, Jan. 23, at Epiphany in Normal. We face Roanoke-Benson in the first game of the day at 10:00. We were seeded #4 (behind #1 Peoria St. Vincents, #2 Epiphany, and #3 Holy Trinity). A copy of our regional bracket can be found at: http://www.iesa.org/activities/bbk/brackets_Regional.asp?Year=2010&Class=7-2A&Regional=7.
R-B's record is right around .500, so we should be in for a very competitive game.
Players should arrive at Epiphany no later than 9:20 AM and be prepared to take the floor at 9:30. We probably will not get on the floor early, as the IESA has specific guidelines for when teams can begin warm-ups. The top team (higher seed) is traditionally the home team, so we should be wearing our white uniforms. But as is always the case when we play in a tournament, the players should have both uniforms with them.
Note: I will collect BOTH uniforms immediately following the conclusion of our last game. As a result, players should make sure that they have clothes to change into after every game in the post season. This will save me the hassle of trying to track down uniforms at Metcalf after our season has concluded. I will collect all practice jerseys after our practice on Friday and reissue them as needed at upcoming practices. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
Timeline for Thursday, January 21
Players should arrive at Trinity Lutheran School no later than 5:20 pm and should be ready to take the floor for pre-game warm-ups by 5:30.
Trinity Lutheran School is located at the SE corner of the intersection of Veteran's Parkway and Hamilton road on the southwest side of Bloomington. For GPS purposes, the school address is West Hamilton Rd, Bloomington, IL 61704-8657.

Practice CANCELED on Wed, Jan. 20
As many of you are probably aware, practice has been canceled for tonight, Wednesday, January 20. I apologize for the delay in communicating this information; I was not at school today and did not get the news until later this afternoon. I apologize for any inconveniences that this may have caused.
7th Grade Receives #4 Seed in Regional
Based on voting by the participating coaches, we were seeded #4 in our 7-team regional. As a result, we will play our first game on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 10:00 am against Roanoke-Benson Jr. High. R-B is currently 9-8. The only common opponent on their schedule was a 25-point loss at Eureka (sounds familiar).

Practice added for Saturday, January 9
Based on the positive feedback I received from a majority of the parents, THE 7TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM WILL HAVE PRACTICE ON SATURDAY, JAN. 9, from 7:30 - 9:00 AM in the small gym at U-High.
As is always the case when we practice at U-High, players should enter through the doors at the tennis court entrance (NW corner of the building) off Gregory St. Doors should be open around 7:15.
Thank you in advance for making this practice a reality. Hopefully, the extra work will be evident in our performance Monday night.

Olympia Game Rescheduled
The Olympia game that was canceled last night has been rescheduled for MONDAY, JAN. 11 at 6:00 at Metcalf. The same concession workers are asked to help out on Monday - Tom Scott and Teresa Hunt. If you can not fulfill these duties, please contact the loser (winner???) of the Rock/Paper/Scissors competition - Cheryl Brooks - to see if she can cover.
As a result of the game being rescheduled for Monday, we are contemplating having basketball practice tomorrow morning. Please e-mail or text me (309-530-2297) ASAP as to your son's availability for a practice tomorrow morning. We are TENTATIVELY looking at 7:30 - 9:00.

Game vs Olympia ... CANCELED!!!!!
As you might have anticipated, tonight's game with Olympia has been canceled. At this time, no make up date has been set.
If we have school tomorrow, we will practice as scheduled from 3:30 - 4:30. If school is canceled, the coaches have discussed the possibility of holding a OPTIONAL open gym during this time if the weather clears up by the afternoon.
At this time, we have no practice scheduled for Saturday morning. That could change, however, based on how things go tomorrow. I will update this website as soon as a final decision is made and will follow up with an e-mail as time allows.

Epiphany Tournament - Day #1
Great win today for the 7th grade team!
Our next game is Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 3:45 vs. Peoria St. Vincent DePaul. St. Vincents has been assigned to our regional, so this is an important game for us.
We SHOULD wear white jerseys. But as always, bring BOTH UNIFORMS to the game. Players should be in the stands by 3:00. Players should also bring both their red warm-up and black t-shirt to the game.
The 8th graders also won today, so they will play immediately following our game against Holy Trinity.

Late December / Early January 7BB Schedule
Couple of quick notes ...
- I e-mailed the brackets for the Epiphany Holiday Tournament. Let me know if you have questions. At this time, the only absence I am aware of is Ryan Scott.
- I have misplaced the schedule to work the concession stand, so I am once again asking for volunteers to work the three remaining home games. 7th grade parents are expected to work from the end of the 7th grade game until after halftime of the 8th grade game. Please respond to this e-mail with your willingness to fill a slot for one of the following games:
Thursday, Jan. 7 vs Olympia
Tuesday, Jan. 12 vs Lincoln Carroll
Tuesday, Jan. 19 vs Delavan
Thank you in advance for your willingness to support the fundraising efforts of the Metcalf Athletic program.
- We will be hosting the 7BB Class 2A sectional on Wednesday, Feb. 3. Regardless of whether or not we play (I certainly hope we do), the 7th grade basketball program is expected to provide volunteers to make the night run as smoothly as possible. We will give you more details as the become available in January.
